Coming Soon

When your son wakes you up at 3:00 A.M. because he wants to watch Caillou, he’s an a-hole. When your daughter outlines every corner of your living room with a purple crayon, she’s an a-hole. When your rug rats purposely decorate the kitchen ceiling with their smoothies, they’re a-holes. So it’s only natural to want to kill them sometimes. Of course you can’t because you’d go to prison, and then you’d really never get to poop alone again. Plus, there’s that whole loving them more than anything in the whole world thing.

About this author:
Christine and her husband coach a little league baseball team. She loves camping, fishing, swimming, and too many other things to list.  While she writes a lot of romance in her books, romance movies aren't really her thing. She likes to watch the action thrillers, scary movies, and anything suspense. She loves to read a good historical romance! Also, she is completely fascinated by all things pirate.
The thing Christine loves the most, outside of writing and her family, is making people laugh. People come and go from our lives, influencing and changing us in all kinds of ways.  Sometimes the influences are positive, but then again, some are negative.  If we use the negative as a tool for learning, we could very well change or even save someone's life down the road.  She strives to be the type of person that touches someone’s life in a positive way, even if it is by writing a book. She believes that if only a quarter of the people in the world would loosen up and smile, it would be a better place.
If she could share one message with the world, it would be that nothing is impossible and you should never stop following your dreams.

A little more about the author:

What inspired you to write your first book?
Goodness, I can't answer that honestly.  I have always been a stickler for the historical romance. . . pirate ones I love the most... but the misunderstood cowboy and the school marm... I've only recently started with paranormal, however, my love will always stay with the historical.  I have several of those written.

How did you come up with the title?

Originally, the title was The Chosen Series: Fallen, but after long discussion and brain storming we decided that Risen would be better suited.  One of the key factors being that there are several other books on the market under that title already.  I wanted mine to stand on its own and be known for something entirely different.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Don't be afraid of Destiny.  It may scare the bejeepers out of ya but grasp it fully and hang on tight.  It may be a rough ride with a lot of ups and downs but in the long run it will be worth it.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?

OK.... THIS IS AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST GLIMPSE INSIDE OF The Chosen Chronicles: Bloodlines.

The air became filled with fog, but as they got closer, the fog turned into a suffocating smoke.  Erin folded her wings and slipped beneath the smoke bank, but then the girls saw the source of the glow.

“Oh no,” Angie gasped.  Her heart slammed against her the back of her lungs, focing the air from her body.  A ball of fire engulf the entire island, their island.

“No,” Erin sobbed.

“We’ve got to go down there.  We’ve got to find them,” Angie said as she began to struggle.

Erin tightened her grip around her.  “We can’t do that, Ang, and you know it.  We can’t go down there.  If the fire doesn’t kill us, who or what ever started it will.”

Angie felt tears stinging the back of her eyes, but she refused to shed them in front of Erin.  It was time to be tough, not whining like a child.  So, instead of focusing on her pain, she focused on her anger.

“I’ll circle around to see if we can see anything, but we’re not going down there,” Erin said firmly.

As they flew several thousand feet above the island, the heat from the flames warmed them.

“Can you see anything?”  Erin asked.

Angie’s eyes scanned the burning terrain, then came to rest on the center of the island where the house had once been secluded by a thick copse of trees.  The canopy had burned away, revealing the smoldering remains of their home.

“I don’t see anything.  The house is gone.”

“We need to get out of here,” Erin said.  “I don’t like being out in the open like this.  It feels like we’re being watched.”

“We need to find a place rest.”

“I think I know where we can go, but I can’t fly us there.  We’re going to have to transport.”  The spot on Erin’s back, where her wings were attached, was beginning to burn, like she’d been lifting weights for five hours nonstop.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’ve just not gotten used to flying.”

“This place we are going, is it safe?”

“I hope so, because we are running out of options.”

“I'm going to need your help.  I'm not sure I have enough strength to get us there.”

“Sure,” Angie said easily.

“This is going to get tricky.”

“Let's do it.”

“Hang on,” Erin said as she folded her wings against her back.  The girls stopped moving forward and began falling.

Erin closed her eyes and felt Angie's energy quickly blanket her, strengthening her own.  Behind her eyelids she could see the bright orange of the fire getting brighter.  The heat of the fire getting more intense.  The colors began to swirl and twist as electrical currents rippled over her body.  She could feel their bodies being pulled, much like the hose of a vacuum being put over someone's skin.  The heat of the fire rushed up to meet them and then there was nothing.

Excerpt

"Well now, children. Who decided to play and did not invite me to join?” Her voice is feminine, seductive and teasing with sexuality. I can’t see her yet, but the tone is that of a very beautiful woman. Vera's voice holds the same electric currents in it, but I’m not attracted to this one.

Vera's voice sounds strained, as if she’d been talking for hours. Like she is just waking in the morning and isn't functioning quite right. "Thank you for answering my call, Lilith."

"I'm not answering your call Vera, you assume too much. You sent out a beacon for aid, that much you did, but you see you're on my lands and a beacon must be answered by the enforcers. I just can’t allow it to happen." Her voice isn't as pleasant. "You have all broken Demonic law. I was not informed any of you would be here. It is within my rights to kill you."

She’s beautiful. Her hair is fire truck red, it curls naturally down her back and follows her soft jaw. Her eyes’ are fierce with the color of a deep emerald. She has skin as pale as the full moon in the middle of the night. A short dress barely covers what she has to show. The dress hangs low on her breasts with circles cut out of the midriff leaving a single strip running across her stomach into a pair of panty bottoms with a loin cloth that is higher in the front than the back. Black boots run up her legs with the dress hiding the top of the boots. Her wings are reddish brown and look like leather. They don’t compare to those of an angel but are more like those of a bat. The stories at least get some things right.

She leans closer to whisper softly in Vera's ear. “Now what should I do.” She curls her mouth into a scary smile. Whatever she is planning, she’s going to enjoy it.

Getting to know her a little more!

What made you decide to finally pick up a pen and start working towards that dream of writing a novel? ·

JG – Yes, so far I have four written I am thinking about adding two more, I don’t know past that.

Are there any new writers that have grasped your interests?

Excerpt: There was an alley to the right. Too small for the car, or could he follow? Would it be a dead end and he’d have me cornered? It was my only chance. I lunged for its opening. My knee gave as my foot twisted off the curb sending me stumbling forward. My arms thrust out instinctively. I landed snapping my wrist back. They hadn’t softened the blow to my face as I hit the cold wet concrete. Blood spattered from my nose and mouth. My lungs were too fatigued to even muster a scream. Instead this sickened pathetic whimper gurgled out through the stream of blood. As I lay there, trying to muster enough will to get up, the tires squealed to a stop right next to me. My ears rang in a high-pitched echo combined with the sound of my blood rushing in my ears. “Anna!” My whole body shook violently when I heard a rough baritone voice scream my name in an intense rage. There was no way I could run from him anymore. Would I die here? Would he take me somewhere else to prolong my suffering? How long would it take? Another dark thought. Is this what Neesa and her mother had seen? Futilely my eyes closed. If I had to be conscious, I refused to watch my own death. “Anna! Look at me!” One hand held onto my shoulder turning me slowly as another hand carefully took a hold of my chin, tilting it up and making me cough on my own blood. “No.” Worthlessly defiant. I gurgled coughing on the blood filling my mouth relentlessly. “Alright. Just hang on. I’m going to move you, okay,” his voice filled with laughter. Though weak and painful, it flooded with the sound of relief. “No!” The scream was weak and sprayed blood as I spoke. My hand shot up defensively swiping at his face to try to push him away from me. The hand at my chin released to take my wrist gently.

Excerpt
He faded in and out of consciousness. Sound, light, and movement blended together until he couldn’t tell one from the next. Coherent thought was impossible; fragments of ideas filtered in then slipped through the sieve of his mind. He was weak, dehydrated, and starving.

The one consistent concept he was able to grasp was his name. Brennan Miles. The name he had given himself. Simple, strong, normal; all qualities that he longed for. He no longer remembered his real name, just as he no longer remembered anything before he’d come to the institute.

The few who had ever met him took one look at his stocky build, and thought he looked plenty strong. He could see it in the way they looked at him with a mix of awe and fear. But he wasn’t strong in the way that he wanted to be. At the moment, he wasn’t even physically strong. They’d kept food and his supplements from him for over seventy-six hours - the longest period to date. Water was the only offering and even that had been the bare minimum. They wanted to see how powerful his need would be when triggered.

He had seen how intense his need could be and what it could drive him to do. All those other times, though, he had been in prime condition - healthy and agile. In his current state, he doubted he would be able to lift his head, much less give in to the power of his unnatural instinct. The doctor would be disappointed.

Serves him right, he thought.

Brennan heard the swish of the door open and close. His acute sense of smell instantly recognized the scent of Doctor Shinto and that of a stranger. Repulsion and hate flowed through his veins. The voices of his visitors drifted in and out. They spoke about him as if he weren’t there. He was just an object, an experiment. He wanted to lash out and crush the doctor. He wanted to give in to his need here and now, but with his ankles shackled and his wrists bound, he would do no such thing. Even if he had been unrestrained, he doubted that he could stand up, let alone end Doctor Shinto’s unconscionable life in his current condition. Instead, he let his head loll against the back of his chair and listened to the conversation at hand.

“Don’t get too close, Mr. Champlain. He can smell us. I don’t want him to be tempted.”

“Tempted, huh?” Champlain said, “he’s restrained and looks to be half dead. What threat could he be?”

Dr. Shinto spoke methodically. “He’s been without supplement or food for over 3 days. He’s had only 50ccs of water daily. He is extremely weak and dangerously dehydrated and will go into hypovolemic shock if he doesn’t get what he needs very soon.”

His voice was devoid of concern. The only inflection was a breathless excitement revealing the delight he took in his work.

that will do anything to get revenge; she feels like she is falling.

The only thing that is holding her together is her support system; her friends and Danny.

Only life isn't fair and doesn't play by the rules.

I was born in Jackson, MI but now live on Long Island in NY. I have four beautiful daughters whom I live and breathe for. I began writing as a hobby, but realized very quickly that it was an outlet to explore my deepest dreams. I love to read and have a problem with honesty when I write reviews, although I do not have a problem if you tell me I'm wrong about it. My debut novel is “Sudden Hope” and will be released in April of 2013. Welcome to my reality and I hope all your dreams come true.

Mari Arden - Flame

Book Description Publication Date: March 10, 2013 Some secrets change your life forever. Have you ever felt invisible? I do. Everyday. I can't get close to anyone, and people can't get close to me. Every time I feel a friendship beginning, something inevitably happens, and I become invisible again. Unseen. Ignored. It's been a part of me for so long that it's hard to imagine anything different. Then the Saguinox arrive, and my life is forever altered. People are fascinated by these beautiful creatures who look and talk like us. They're alluring. Seductive. Intoxicating. And two of them are going to my school. Rhys is everything I shouldn't want, but his eyes are like something from a memory. I can't help but be intrigued. He's the only one who can really see me. Some secrets you're better off not knowing. I had been found on a cold winter night with nothing but a blanket, and ashes covering my skin. My mother saved me from death, and took me in with love. But she couldn't save herself. I didn't think heroes were real anymore until the day Kaiden saved me. I couldn't believe in miracles until the day he revealed I was the miracle they had all been hoping for. Deep inside I always knew my past mattered. I just didn't know my life would depend on it.

Author bio: I'm Mari Arden (Mari rhymes with safari). Teacher by day, author by night. When I'm not living my double life I like to hike and try foods from all over the world. Up until recently, I used to be scared of dogs. Even puppies. True story. Now I'm just afraid of anything with more than six legs. I write to soothe my soul and to, hopefully, entertain YOU. Adventurous? Come join my double life!

Freak Of Nature!

Donate Body to Science. Check.

When seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she’d have her life–and her body–stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half-robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they’ll erase what remains of who she was.

Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can’t get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds.

*For mature teens due to some sexual content.

My Review!
Freak of Nature is freaking Amazing!

I love Julia Crane's writing style, But this was this is not what I was expecting! It was so much more. I have never read a book like "freak of nature" and I do not believe I ever will again. Her imagination is beyond belief. I really liked the ideas behind this book . It brought science and love into one setting. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The only problem with the story was I did not want it to be over!

A few questions for the Author!

  1. What books have most influenced your life most?

  1. That’s always a hard question. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can recall. As a teenager my walls were bookcases filled with books. My friends couldn’t believe I’d actually read them all. I really loved Nancy Drew as a child. She started my love for series. As far as influenced my life... I love Ayn Rand she makes me think about myself and society.

  1. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in any of your books?

  1. Someday I would like to go back and rewrite Keegan’s Chronicles. My writing has grown since then, but I also think it’s important to move forward so we’ll see.

  1. Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

  1. Reading. I started with poetry and short stories when I was about thirteen.
